Welcome to 2017! After a well deserved rest, we’re all back and ready to kick off a new year of webinars – with my recommendations below. This week I had an extraordinary opportunity to learn from and network with some of the brightest minds in procurement. At the first annual CPO Rising Summit, hosted in Boston, MA by Ardent Partners, over 150 attendees saw and heard a remarkable amount of thought leadership in just two days. The speakers – all accomplished executives from world class companies – shared the lessons they learned on their journey to this point as well as their vision for the future of procurement.
If you missed this year’s event, you can get a glimpse of what was shared in the recap webinar being hosted by Ardent Partners on April 12 (click here to register).
This week’s event notes are from the September SIG Town Hall Teleconference. In this open mic event, Dawn Evans, SIG’s President and CEO, led a discussion about the metrics procurement can put in place to drive meaningful results from suppliers. These events, held monthly, are open to buy side members. SIG also welcomes first time buy-side non-members so they can experience the open nature of a SIG Town Hall Teleconference. These events are unsponsored and are never recorded in order to encourage open participation. For more information on SIG Town Halls, click here.
This week’s featured webinar was presented by the Next Level Purchasing Association. Each of the three speakers gave a preview of the sessions they will presenting at NLPA’s first conference, which is being held in Pittsburgh, PA this September.
Rather than covering a webinar this week, I decided to focus on a recent interview conducted by Jon Hansen on the PI Window on Business Blog Talk Radio program. In April he spoke with Bill Michels, President of ADR North America, which was acquired by a for-profit arm of the Institute for Supply Management in December of 2011. The interview titled ‘The Future of ISM’ is available on demand on Blog Talk Radio.
You make money while you are spending money – a quote from Alpar Kamber’s father
This week’s featured event was an interview by Jon Hansen, host of the PI Window on Business Blog Talk Radio program, and Alpar Kamber, a Managing Partner with Denali Group and the Founder and Practice Lead of their Sourcing Services group. The broadcast recording is available on demand on the PI Window on Business site. You can also read more from the Denali Group leadership team in a recent Buyers Meeting Point interview: Planning for Sustainable Results: Long-term Vision, Short-term Action.
If you like what you hear and read, there are additional upcoming opportunities to interact with Alpar and the Denali team in a non-commercial setting. They are hosting two sourcing forums: one later this month in Pittsburgh and one in 2013 in Seattle.
The event had an interesting format - four speakers, same topic: quick savings wins. While all of the speakers were qualified, two set themselves aside by taking on the harsh realities of trying to increase savings for the year with only a sort time left to go.
I was really looking forward to this event, and it did not disappoint. This is the first event I have attended by Preparis (providers of an emergency preparedness suite) and I will add them to my list of sources for future webinars. Kudos to Bill Michaels (CEO, ADR North America), David Landsman (Director of Strategic Alliances, MFG.com) and Armistead Whitney (CEO, Preparis) for an exceptionally well done event.
