The Point
Buyers Meeting Point attends many sales AND procurement webinars/webcasts. One of the interesting things about consistently reading content from quality sources is that you start to notice trends. It is amazing how often the same topics arise at the same time in different places. We use this blog as a way to help you stay on top of the major themes in procurement and supply chain management.

Years ago I was on a project to identify the workflow and determine the value of implementing an eprocurement solution. What I found was an intricate web of approvals and duplicated efforts. At times it seemed like I was in a maze and could not get myself out!
In the midst of the project, we shifted gears and moved towards esourcing, auctions and contracts. That was quite an undertaking as well. In my reading this week, I was revisiting the process of the 'req to check' technologies.
This blog entry by Puridiom, 'Choosing eProcurement - What to Look For in an eProcurement Solution', helps to outline a few areas that are keys to a successful selection and implementation of an eprocurement system. One area that you may not have thought about it the scalability as you roll out to more areas and also as your business grows. Make sure to identify those parameters and limitations so you won't get surprised down the road.
Another area that is discussed is ease of use or an easy learning curve. We are busy professionals and want to acclimate to the new tool or process without even thinking about it. Almost like breathing!!
Have you implemented an eprocurement solution? Have you learned any tricks that are helpful for others just getting started? Do you have a key to 'get out of the maze!!'. We would love to hear from you!
