Requests for Proposal are nearly synonymous with procurement and strategic sourcing. In fact, they are so well known outside of procurement that even suppliers and other functional leaders don’t need to be reminded what ‘RFP’ stands for. Unfortunately, the experiences RFPs call to mind have not necessarily bred fondness. Poorly run and ineffectively used RFPs have diminished the level of trust that suppliers and stakeholders have in the sourcing process as a whole and in the results they generate.

If procurement wants to make RFPs strategic again, we have to use them differently – not as a way to “check the box” but as a way to move the ball on corporate objectives.

This AOP Live session, hosted by Philip Ideson, will explore how to reclaim the power of the RFP - and just in the nick of time. As increased procurement automation and a trend towards self-guided buying open the door to the highest volume of manageable spend ever, we are going to need all the help we can get.

Dave Hulsen, Co-Founder and the Chief Operating Officer of RFP360, will answer your live questions about how procurement can:

  • Build a faster, smarter RFP that reflects the unique value of each spend category to enterprise-wide business objectives
  • Use RFPs to build (not break) collaborative, innovative relationships with suppliers
  • Run a tailored RFP process rather than taking a one-size-fits all approach
  • Emphasize transparency to earn the trust of all stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Eliminate human bias from the scoring process to identify ‘organic’ best fit suppliers

About the Guest: Dave Hulsen

Dave has an extensive background in both issuing and responding to RFPs as a consultant in the technology industry. His experience in procurement, vendor management and strategic sourcing led him to co-found RFP360 where he serves as the chief operations officer.
