This week presented me with a challenge on two levels – it was hard to select just three of the nine fantastic webinars taking place in the next few days, but it was just as difficult to decide which longer term event to suggest. At the end of the day, I compromised on a tie; both of the following events look amazing:
- The Future of Procurement: Why is Technology Lagging Behind? (ATK, IACCM, SirionLabs, Forbes) on September 25th at 11am ET
- The HFS Super Machine Learning Debate (HfS Research) on October 5th at 11am ET
BTW: If you haven’t already, sign up for our mailing list to be sure you get my weekly recommendations in your Inbox each Monday.
September 18th, 12n ET
When a speaker introduces themselves by proudly proclaiming “geek” status, you have to stop and take notice. In this webinar, Sree Rajagopalan, Founder and CEO of Murano Corporation (and geek), will discuss how AI and data visibility can be used to transform supply chains and their organizations. He and fellow former-IBMer Jerry Kopecky will address the benefits associated with AI, such as reducing inventory costs and minimizing invoicing errors as well as the obstacles facing manufacturers using AI today.
Putting Data at the Center of Digital Procurement (ISM, Zycus)
September 18th, 2pm ET
According to the event description, “This session will utilize a case study approach to illustrate how to implement a "digital-first" approach to Procurement.” I think this is a particularly important element in any discussion of procurement digitalization – otherwise, it will follow in the footsteps of procurement transformation, one of the most over-utilized and mis-understood trends in procurement. Speakers: Krissti Turpeau, Procurement Category Manager at QTS Data Centers and Richard Waugh, VP Corporate Development at Zycus, Inc.
Tariffs, Trade Wars and Supply Chains: How Can Procurement Prepare? (Procurement IQ)
September 20th, 1:30pm ET
I’ve recently noted several posts and events focused on the possibility of global trade wars (including one here on BMP). I take this as a very good sign that the hype is starting to dissipate, and that pragmatic professionals are starting to evaluate the possible consequences and put plans in place to address them. In this webinar, Procurement IQ business analysts Braden Baseley and Torsten Edstam will talk about implementing “what-if” costing models, the dangers of sole sourcing, and the potential impact on downstream supply markets.
