Note: While the statistics are mainly UK based, the presentation/webinar will be global in nature.

How we work is changing globally. In the UK, Self-Employment is increasing 6% year on year. Companies are hiring more 'on-demand' and gig-based work (16% yoy) and "side gigs" - doing paid work outside of full-time employment - already represents £74B to the UK economy as one example.

A seismic shift is happening in the workforce that follows a worldwide trend in demand for "flexible working". And it impacts everyone; Matthew Taylor, CEO of the Royal Society of Arts stratifies this new economy into the precarious and the privileged; from less-than-living-wage Deliveroo riders to up to IT contractors earning £2000 per day.

The legal means of contracting across the entire spectrum of independent workers in the flexible work economy is the SoW. The Statement of Work(SoW); a document that contains the information needed to transact - is the modern version of an employment contract but signed 18x as often and 80x as complex (based on the variables in each SoW).  £2.24Tr UK services economy contracted via “short-term” contracts; with SoW engagements = at least £148B of the UK economy (ONS, 2019).

In this webinar we will discuss:

  • Why we’re all doing it wrong… most of us at least.
  • Why legal departments “kick the can down the road” on SoW – but may contain more risk than MSAs.
  • Why the SoW and dynamically drafted SoW will become more important over time
  • How to create the optimum SoW framework across all channels of supply
  • Perform your own health check on your SoW systems and processes
  • The difference between “statement takers” (e.g. freelancers) and high end contracting and consulting “statement makers”.
  • How to improve SoW with high impact, low effort activities.
