When the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, the world will look markedly different. The supply shock that started in China in February and the demand shock that followed as the global economy shut down exposed vulnerabilities in the production strategies and supply chains of firms everywhere.

The challenge companies now face is to make their global supply chains more resilient without weakening their competitiveness. But how can organizations do this?

On January 21, Harvard Business School professor Willy Shih will lead a live, interactive HBR webinar focused on global supply chains of the future. Shih will discuss:

  • Why during this time of economic nationalism it is essential not to back away from globalization
  • Using this crisis to understand vulnerabilities and reassess supply networks
  • Diversifying your supply base to decrease risk
  • Taking advantage of process innovations

The economic turmoil caused by the pandemic has exposed vulnerabilities and raised doubts about globalization. But companies that back away from global supply chains will create a void that is filled by those companies that don’t abandon globalization.

To better understand the future of global supply chains and to identify what your company must be focused on at this critical time, join Professor Willy Shih and HBR on January 21.
