Governments and regulators across the globe are stepping up their scrutiny of enterprise procurement and supply chain operations with the aim of driving more ethical and environmentally sustainable business practices. Dozens of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) laws, regulations, and executive orders have gone into effect around the world with more in the works. They aim to uncover harmful and unethical business practices, such as environmental degradation, unfair or unsafe working conditions, and modern slavery.

Most recently, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, coming into effect on June 21, 2022, seeks to prevent the import of goods from China into the U.S. that are presumed to be tainted with slave labor. The Uyghur FLPA, like other ESG laws, will demand increased visibility into not only first-tier suppliers, but your sub-tier as well. So, how can you prepare for this act and other ESG laws and regulations?
