In an ocean of information, news, and media we’re talking about faux pas’ headlines and the systemic, negative language so frequently used.???????
Join us we discuss how to create environments where speaking up is encouraged, sensitivity is openly discussed, accountability is acknowledged, and the foundation for lasting impact is laid.
Too often there continues to be a negative connection between being a woman and being in business. Take the BBC’s retracted headline “Can women have it all?” regarding New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Arden’s resignation and more recently CNN’s Don Lemon who commented that GOP candidate Nikki Haley was no longer ‘in her prime’. Unfortunately, you don’t need to look very far to find more examples. We want to talk about this!
For centuries “calling it out” has functioned as a tool to reveal injustices and the need for reform. But is this approach viewed in a positive light? How can we benefit from a “call-out culture”, without succumbing to the toxicity and futility that can be associated with it? Are we being too sensitive?
Maybe, maybe not. The fact is that bias, stereotypes, and discrimination are a reality, so let’s talk about the action that’s needed to create a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
