Many companies have, or are developing, programs to encourage supplier diversity and support supplier development. In addition to providing diverse suppliers with opportunities to compete for direct business, companies also are engaging their prime suppliers to share in their commitment toward advancing a diverse supply chain that will increase competition and innovation, lead to better business solutions and grow economic vitality.
This web seminar will offer a discussion of how one company – Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) – has created and manages its Prime Supplier Program, engaging its prime suppliers in an overall strategy of diversifying its supplier base.
Joan Kerr, the Director of Supplier Diversity and Sustainability for PG&E, and the Chair of the ISM Supplier Diversity Group, has unique insights into the interplay between developing a diverse supplier base and working with “prime” suppliers. She will use her experience at PG&E as a case study to initiate a discussion of how important a company’s prime suppliers can be in addressing supplier diversity goals.
