Featuring Charu Thomas, Automated Transportation Systems Researcher at the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at Georgia Tech Sarthak Srinivas, Augmented Reality and Wearable Computing Researcher & third year Computer Science student at Georgia Tech. Moderated by Scott W. Luton, CSCP, LSSGB APICS Southeast District Staff We’ve all heard the word Augmented Reality. But what does it mean and how can we leverage it in supply chain? The problems in supply chain that we will focus on are order picking, bin packing, and material handling. We will talk about the technical details of deploying Augmented Reality applications from game design, hardware and software. We will also talk about the common practices and mistakes that occur in this space. About the speakers: Charu Thomas is an Automated Transportation Systems Researcher at the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at Georgia Tech. Her research in modelling ‘Smart City’ Logistic Networks has been presented as the keynote at the 8th International Scientific Symposium on Logistics and other international forums. She is currently pursuing a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the #1 ranked program in the USA at Georgia Tech. Sarthak Srinivas is Augmented Reality and Wearable Computing Researcher under Dr. Blair McIntyre and Dr. Thad Starner (inventor of Google Glass). He is one of the lead student developers of the world’s first Augmented Reality web browser, Argon. In addition, his work has been featured on CNN, Engadget, PBS, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He is a finalist for competitions like the InVenture Prize and the Microsoft Imagine Cup. He is a third year at Georgia Tech studying Computer Science.
