We can say with some confidence that the procurement function will look very different in just a few years. We hear almost daily about how “digital” technologies – AI, RPA, bots, machine learning -- are being used to generate better efficiency and insights. There have certainly been stumbling blocks and not every tech goal will be fulfilled as quickly as promised. However, it’s clear that many traditional procurement responsibilities are being automated and practitioners’ roles are changing.
