Procurement often talks about wanting to achieve greater ‘alignment’ with the business. While this is a desirable state, it is also a passive one. If procurement is concerned with taking an active role in planning and execution for the sake of improved financial outcomes, they need to be a fully connected and collaborative partner to the business. They must also be involved in strategic corporate decisions and plans from their inception.
Procurement responsibilities and visibility into the supply chain make them uniquely well suited to participate in planning conversations that connect multiple functional stakeholders and multiple tiers of external supply partners. They must be able to understand and articulate the cost and revenue impact of business decisions in the immediate term as well as forecasting implications for the future. When done with vision, this combination of activities and capabilities facilitates improved outcomes and increased accountability.
During this AOP Live session, Bryan Baum, Head of Supply Chain Solutions, Sourcing and Procurement at Anaplan, will answer live audience questions about:
- Vision: Why should procurement teams be concerned with driving financial outcomes? What does this mean for their relationships with finance and operations?
- Strategy: How can procurement ensure that their planning efforts meet or exceed performance expectations and support sustainability as well?
- Action: What data and systems support are required to set procurement up for success? Where can automation and benchmarking be leveraged? How to shift thinking to proactive procurement planning?
