NESCON 2020: A Reimagined Conference for a Restructured World

Like nearly all other in person industry events, the organizers of the New England Supply Chain Conference and Exposition (NESCON) were faced with a challenge this year. An inability to hold large, in person gatherings would force the event online, but also present an opportunity to reimagine topics and delivery for a post-COVID world.

NESCON 2020 (click here to register or view the full agenda) is being held online October 5-7th, starting at 11am each day. Speakers include returning favorites such as Jeff Carr, President at Economic & Policy Resources, Inc., Andrew Bartolini, Founder and Chief Research Officer at Ardent Partners, Pierre Mitchell, Managing Director at Spend Matters, and Jonathan Hughes, Partner and Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Management Practice Leader at Vantage Partners.

NESCON has been holding an annual event for procurement and supply chain professionals for 15 years, a trend they didn’t intend to interrupt just because of the pandemic. I’ve personally made some great connections through the event, including NESCON Chair Dave Kriz, Ken Glasser, head of the APICS Massachusetts Minutemen chapter, and Rich Weissman, procurement consultant, writer, and professor extraordinaire.

Through a fortunate chain of events, virtual attendees will be treated to an exceptional closing keynote speaker: General (Ret.) Stanley A. McChrystal. McChrystal is a transformational leader with a remarkable record of achievement both on and off the battlefield.

Since retiring from the military, he has served on several corporate boards of directors (including Deutsche Bank America, JetBlue Airways, Navistar, Siemens Government Technologies, Fiscal Note, and Accent Technologies). He is also the author of the bestselling leadership books, My Share of the Task: A Memoir, Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World, and Leaders: Myth and Reality.

Today, General McChrystal is the Founder and CEO of McChrystal Group, an advisory services firm that helps businesses challenge hierarchical, “command and control” approaches to organizational management.

Like so many other occasions in 2020, the NESCON leadership committee was faced with a real challenge when they needed to replace the community and camaraderie of their annual live event in Central Massachusetts. That said, the caliber of the speakers and the timeliness of the content are exactly what procurement professionals need as we finally prepare to close the books on 2020. This year, you don’t have to worry about whether you are within an easy drive of Marlborough, MA – come to NESCON as you are, from wherever you are based. You’ll be glad you did.

Buyers Meeting Point and MyPurchasingCenter are proud media partners of NESCON 2020.
